Nasal Fracture Repair Newport Beach
One of the most common fractures of the face is fracture of the nasal bones from blunt trauma during sports or an altercation. Imaging of the nose, either plain films or CT scan, is usually done to confirm diagnosis and for surgical planning. If the nose is deviated or crooked, closed reduction of the nasal fracture to straighten the nasal bones can be done within 14 days of the injury, before the bones begin to heal and ossify. Older nasal fractures may need to be refractured to allow for movement and straightening of the nasal bones. If that is necessary, Dr. Chen will make an incision on the underside of the nasal bones.
As a fellowship trained plastic surgeon in both craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery, Dr. Chen has received additional specialized training in the open and closed reduction of nasal fractures.
