Rhinoplasty/Septoplasty Newport Beach

Rhinoplasty/SeptoplastyRhinoplasty, more commonly known as a nose job, alters the nose by changing the size and/or shape of the nose, bridge, or nostrils, often bringing greater harmony and balance to the face. A bump on the nose can be removed, a crooked nose straightened, and the nasal bridge or nostrils narrowed. During a rhinoplasty, bone and cartilage may be trimmed or reshaped to reach a desired contour.

For nasal obstruction improved with the cottle maneuver, which is the pulling on the cheek to open the internal nasal valve, a septoplasty should be performed with placement of spreader grafts to support the narrowed airway.

Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia. Post-operatively, a nasal splint may be placed to help reduce swelling and protect the nose. Packing material in the nostrils may be left in place for 2-3 days. Swelling may last for months after a rhinoplasty, and the final appearance of the nose may not be apparent until all the swelling subsides.
