Breast ptosis or drooping may develop over time from breast feeding or aging. A breast lift or mastopexy corrects breast ptosis by removing excess breast tissue, lifting the nipple areolar complex to a more youthful position, and thus forming a more rounded breast shape.

A breast lift can be augmented with breast implants to restore volume and fullness to the breast. The breast implants are often placed during the same surgery, but occasionally the implants may be placed at a later surgery, depending on the patient’s anatomy.
